Baru-baru ini di Amrik sono telah berhasil mengembangkan ikan transgenik yaitu ikan trout yang setelah di modifikasi secara genetik, bisa menghasilkan massa otot ikan yang lebih besar, 







Omong-omong tentang transgenik, transgenik / rekayasa genetika itu apa sih?

Rekayasa genetik adalah rangkaian teknik untuk mengisolasi, memodifikasi, menggandakan, dan merekombinasi gen dari organisme berbeda. Menurut ilmuwan biologi molekuler, Mae Wan Hoo, dalam bukunya, teknik ini memungkinkan perpindahan gen antar spesies berbeda yang tak mungkin saling kimpoi secara alamiah, misalnya gen ikan dimasukkan ke dalam tomat dan gen manusia dipindahkan ke domba.

Teknologi ini dirancang untuk mematahkan halangan antarspesies dan melemahkan mekanisme pertahanan spesies. Rekayasa genetik tanaman dan hewan dimulai pada pertengahan 1970-an yang dipicu penemuan beberapa teknik kunci dalam genetika molekuler.
Ikan mutant ini adalah hasil penelitian seorang Professor di Universitas Rhode Island, Mr. Terry Bradley. Dengan memodifikasi genetis ikan trout, ikan mutant ini memiliki massa otot antara 15-20% lebih tinggi dari ikan standar.

Nyambung lagi ke ikan mutant itu, adapun penelitian tersebut diantaranya dengan menghambat myostatin, protein yang memperlambat pertumbuhan. Mereka menyuntik ribuan telur ikan trout dengan berbagai jenis DNA yang menghambat kinerja enzim myostatin.

Efek positif dari hasil penelitian ini adalah secara komersil, dengan hasil daging ikan yang lebih banyak, namun tanpa menambah ongkos pakan ikan.

Salah satu mobil langka Ferrari yakni Ferrari 250 GTO akan segera dilelang. Diprediksi hasil lelangnya ini akan tinggi menembus Rp 187 miliar dan membuat mobil ini menjadi salah satu mobil klasik Ferrari termahal. Estimasi 187M adalah berdasarkan kelangkaan dari mobil seri ini karena pada tahun pembuatannya di tahun 1963, Ferrari 250 GTO ternyata hanya diproduksi secara sangat terbatas yakni hanya 36 unit saja sehingga mobil ini menjadi incaran banyak kolektor

Sebab selain merupakan salah satu Ferrari paling di damba di dunia, mobil yang memiliki nomor sasis 4.675 GT ini juga merupakan barang yang sangat langka.

Terbakar Cemburu, Dua Mahasiswi Berkelahi di Mobil

Perkelahian dua mahasiswi Universitas Pelita Harapan tak bisa dihindarkan gara-gara dibakar rasa cemburu.

Adalah Listya dan Maisya Natalia (18) terlibat perkelahian dalam mobil Toyota Yaris silver yang berakhir dengan luka parah. Listya Magdalena (18) harus dilarikan ke RS Puri Jakarta Barat, Kamis (18/3/2010).

Kejadian itu bermula dari pertengkaran yang melibatkan keduanya dan berakhir dengan luka parah. Sedangkan Maisya saat ini masih menjalani pemeriksaan di Polsek Kembangan.

"Terdapat luka tusukan di dada dan tangan Listya," kata Kepala Unit Reserse dan Kriminal Polsek Kembangan Iptu W. Aleksander saat ditemui di ruang kerjanya. Polisi juga telah menyita sebilah pisau yang diduga digunakan untuk melukai Listya.

Kendati demikian, polisi belum menetapkan tersangka dalam kasus kekerasan ini. "Kami belum menetapkan tersangka, karena korban belum bisa kami mintai keterangan. Kami masih mendalami kasus ini," kata Aleksander.

Saat ini, kasus tersebut akan dilimpahkan ke Polres Jakarta Barat. "Sorry Mas, sekarang udah capek. Biar tidak sepotong-sepotong beritanya mendingan besok," lanjutnya menutupi kejadian tersebut.

Saat ini, keluarga mahasiswi tersebut masih berada di Polsek Kembangan dan saat wartawan bertanya, mereka tutup mulut mengenai peristiwa tersebut.

Seorang seniman asal Denmark bernama Kleivan Faustina terinspirasi untuk mendandani anak wanitanya yang masih balita. Balita yang bernama Nina Maria tersebut difoto dengan berbagai gaya pose ala para diktator dunia yang pernah dan masih berkuasa hingga saat ini. Ayah Kleivan adalah seorang anggota perlawanan Norwegia yang sempat mendekam di kamp Jerman yang dipimpin Hitler pada saat itu. Kebenciannya pada ditaktor menginspirasi jiwa seni dalam dirinya untuk mengeksplore sebuah nilai keditaktoran, agar orang dapat memahami dan memberikan peringatan bahwa setiap orang bisa berpotensi menjadi ditaktor bila tidak dicegah.
